Norwex Reviews – Norwex Entry Mat

The concept behind the Norwex Entry Mat is great, but is it really worth the money?

Just Another Entry Mat?

Did you know that 85% of contaminants are brought into the home in the first four steps?

To tell you the truth, I had never really thought about it, but it makes total sense. And this is the problem that the Norwex Entry Mat is trying to solve.

Because of everything that is tracked inside from our shoes, indoor air pollution is one of the top five environmental health problems here in the United States. In fact, chemical levels are up to 70 times higher indoors than outdoors.

How Does The Norwex Entry Mat Help?

The whole idea of trying to reduce the contaminants that our shoes bring in right in the entry way makes total sense to me. And what better product to do that with than Norwex microfiber right?

The Norwex Entry Mat features “super-thirsty microfiber” and stiff polypropylene bristles so dirt and other pollutants get trapped in the mat instead of being tracked into your home. The mat has five rows of absorbent Norwex microfiber, and four rows of stiff, polypropylene bristles.

I do have to say that after using it, the entry mat really does do a good job at catching dirt. We have dark wood floors, and I’ve noticed fewer footprints since we started using this mat.

The bottom of the mat is made up of industrial-strength rubber, so water, dirt, and snow are not tracked everywhere. The rubber backing also does a better job than most mats I’ve had when it comes to “slipping” when stepped on.

Easy to Clean

After trying the Norwex Entry Mat, one of the advantages was how easy it is to clean.

For lighter cleaning, you can just take the entry mat outside, shake it off, and go over it with the Norwex Rubber Brush.

When the time comes for a more heavy cleaning, this entry mat can be washed in the washing machine using Norwex Laundry Detergent. This is a nice time-saver since most entry mats we’ve had can’t be put in the wash.

However, DO NOT put the Norwex Entry Mat in the dryer. It does need to air dry (and it does so pretty quickly).

The Downside

The biggest downside to the entry mat is that it may be too small for some entryways.

The entry mat is 20″ x 30″.

Norwex did this so that it doesn’t show as much of the dirt that’s trapped in the mat, which is a good idea. Still, it would be nice to have a few more color/style options.

Conclusion

Again, I love the the concept behind the Norwex Entry Mat, and it is a good product, but the reality is it’s not for everyone.

For our entryway, it was too small so we ended up putting it at the base of our stairs as we go into the house from the garage. This has ended up working well for us since this is where we go in and out of the house from the most.
