One of the most common questions I get is if you can put a Norwex EnviroCloth in the laundry?
The answer is yes, but there are some very important instructions to follow to avoid ruining your EnviroCloth.
Laundering Norwex EnviroCloths
If your EnviroCloths are starting to smell or are just plain dirty, there are a few cleaning steps you can take first before laundering them.
However, if they reach the point of needing to be laundered, or if you’re like me and just feel better doing that regularly, here is what I have found to be the best way:
Launder Norwex Microfiber As A Separate Load
The most important thing is to only launder Norwex Microfiber with lint-free laundry.
Personally, I find it easier to just do all of my EnviroCloths in a separate load. That way, I never have to worry about accidentally ruining my cloths.
Only Use Environmentally Friendly Detergent
The EnviroCloths can only be laundered in detergent that is environmentally friendly without fillers or bleach.
I may be a little biased, but the Norwex Ultra Power Plus (recommended) works better on this than any other environmentally friendly detergent I’ve tried. It also seems to be much more cost effective.
Do Mot Use Bleach, Fabric Softeners, Or Dryer Sheets
Bleach and fabric softeners destroy the EnviroCloth’s ability to clean effectively as the microfiber will become clogged.
Even the residue left over from using dryer sheets on other loads can damage your EnviroCloths.
If you use dryer sheets for your regular laundry, you would want to air dry your Norwex microfiber.
A great alternative to dryer sheets are these Norwex Dryer Balls.
Also, if you use fabric softener, I recommend taking out the lint trap and running it under water for a minute to get rid of any residue that may be there.
How Often Should I Put My Norwex EnviroCloth In The Laundry?
Really, this is up to you, but once every week or two would be normal depending on how much you use your EnviroCloths.
We keep a lot of EnviroCloths in our house, and rotate them out ever few days from their different “stations” (i.e. kitchen, bathrooms, etc…). I typically do a load of the ones that have been used every other week.
[callout]Disclaimer: Please keep in mind these are my suggestions, and what has worked well for me. Depending on what you’ve been cleaning, these suggestions may or may not work for you. [/callout]
