Norwex Reviews – Norwex Water Filtration System

The Norwex Water Filtration System was first launched as one of the new Norwex products for fall 2015. Since then, it’s been a big hit!

Norwex Reviews norwex water filtration system

We all know that cleaner water tastes much better, and of course is better for you. But with all of the other filtration systems out there (Britta, etc…), how does the Norewx system compare?

What Does The Norwex Water Filtration System Do?

The Norwex Water Filtration System comes with a 2.5 liter pitcher and 4-stage filter. The oval design of the pitcher does help it fit pretty easily in the refrigerator.

Norwex claims that their unique filter uses exclusive magnesium technology for better-tasting water. This filter helps reduce impurities such as chlorine, copper, cadmium, mercury and lead.

The 4-Stage Norwex Filtration:

Stage 1: Particle Filtration

This stage makes sure that the water is free of particles.

Stage 2: Ion Exchange

The filter contains magnesium-coated resin beads that help reduce limescale, copper, cadmium, lead, mercury and other heavy metals by 95% via an ion exchange process.

As water passes through the filter, calcium and other impurities are attracted to the resin beads in the filter and stick to them. Magnesium is then released out into the water.

Stage 3: Activated Carbon

In this stage, water passes through a coconut- based, granular activated carbon, reducing chlorine by up to 90%.

Stage 4: Final Filtration

Water passes through a fine mesh filter, ensuring the best-tasting water for you and your family.

The filtration stage descriptions are as listed on Norwex.

How Is The Norwex Water Filtration System Different From Others?

Removes Impurities. Adds Magnesium

One of the unique things about the Norwex filtration system is magnesium technology they have. It removes the impurities and adds magnesium.

I really like this because magnesium is good for our bodies. It helps metabolize carbohydrates, proteins and fats. It helps in tissue formation and in the maintenance of proper muscle function. And it also helps in the development and maintenance of strong bones and teeth.

BPA Free

The Norwex system is BPA free. I know that most other water filtration systems are BPA free as well, but not all of them.

Neutral pH vs. Acidic pH

Also, the Norwex system offers a neutral pH vs. an acidic pH, which improves the overall taste of the water. This is also much better for making beverages (coffee and tea), and also makes a difference in cooking.

What’s Good About The Norwex Water Filtration System?

The 4-Stage Filter

I really like the 4-stage Norwex filter. Some other water filtration systems (such as Britta) only have a two-stage system. It seems like the Norwex system does a better job at getting the most junk out of your water.

Magnesium Technology

As I said above, the magnesium technology is a great feature to me.

Digital Indicator

The digital filter indicator on the lid is also very handy, and makes it easy to know when to change out the filter.

Well Designed Pitcher

The whole pitcher is really well designed. Norwex even put on a very nice “comfort grip” handle, which I like better than most other filtration pitchers I’ve used. It makes it easier to grip and pour.

Norwex Warranty

Also, the Norwex warranty is WAY better than most other filtration systems. Most systems like Britta only come with a 90 day warranty. The Norwex Filtration System comes with a full 1 year warranty!

What’s Bad About The Norwex Water Filtration System?

The Setup Could be Better

The filter setup can be confusing, and if you don’t pay very close attention to the directions, you will end up with both filtered and unfiltered water.

After you have thrown away your first filling and are ready to drink the water, here’s what you need to do:

  • Pull back the lever on the pitcher, opening the hole in the lid
  • Sit the pitcher under the faucet and allow water to fill up the pitcher
  • Don’t let it overflow, and don’t close the hole
  • It can take 2-3 times to fill an entire pitcher
  • After you see that the water has passed through the funnel, repeat
  • Repeat again (if needed), until the pitcher is full
  • Push the button for 5 seconds and close the hole

It’s important that you don’t open the hole unless you want to fill the pitcher. The 100 fillings is only affected by the opening of the hole.

Once you get the hang of it, it’s not that bad. But I do wish they could’ve made it a bit easier.

It’s A Bit More Expensive Than Other Filtration Pitchers

The Norwex Water Filtration System sells for $49.99, which is a bit more expensive than some of the Britta systems, but again, with the warranty and better technology, it does seem like you get what you pay for here.

At $29.99 for a 2-Pack, the Norwex Replacement Filters are also a few dollars more than most Britta replacement filters. They also need changing a little more often (every 100 fills / average 4-5 weeks).

But again, the Norwex filters do seem to do a better job, so there is a trade off.

Who Is The Norwex Water Filtration System Best For?

Anyone Using Bottled Water At Home

Most of us at times go with bottled water for connivence. But, the majority of time (when we’re at home), bottled water really isn’t necessary.

Here are a couple of reasons to buy a water filtration system instead of using bottled water:

1). Bottled Water Is NOT Environmentally Friendly

Did you know that Did you konw that more than 60 million plastic bottles wind up in landfills and incinerators each day?

According to banthebottle.net, the average American uses 167 bottles per year and recycles only 38. And plastic negatively impacts more than 700 species of animals and birds.

Using a water filtration system instead of bottled water is an easy change to make, and MUCH better for the environment.

2). A Filtration System Will Save You A LOT Of Money

I’ve always thought that bottled water is crazy expensive. $1+ for a bottle of water!?

If you take time to do the math, the cost savings of a water filtration system is well worth the investment!

After all, who doesn’t like to save money?

Anyone Who Currently Uses A Home Water Delivery Service

I like the Culligan man, but I don’t like a big, ugly water cooler in my kitchen. I also don’t like how expensive home water delivery service is.

If you’re using one of these services, I really think you’ll like the space, and money saved by using the Norwex system instead.

Anyone Looking For A Water Filtration System

If you’re thinking about purchasing a water filtration system, this is a really good one to consider.

Norwex really backs their products (proven by the 1 year warranty).

Anyone Who Is Looking For A Better Water Filtration System Than What They Currently Have

If you have one of the water filtration systems with a 2-stage filter, you will notice a difference using the Norwex system. The 4-stage filter really does help the water taste better.

The same is true if you’re using a refrigerator filtration system (I personally have tried many, but haven’t found one that I think works well with harder water).
